Inflatable Pool Slides vs. Fixed Fiberglass Pool Slides: The Clear Winner is…
There is no question that pool slides are fun! Sliding into the pool makes a great addition to all the possible activities kids and adults alike can have in and around the swimming pool. However, for many people who do not have them yet, there exists a dilemma on which to choose between two opposing types of slides: inflatable pool slides or the fixed pool slides usually made of hard, sturdy materials like fiberglass.
While both types are fun and can provide lots of hours of swimming pool activity, inflatable pool slides tend to be somewhat more fun because of the many creative things manufacturers have come up for them. For one, they can be molded to virtually unlimited configurations and shapes and can be made into all sizes without increasing costs significantly. Most fiberglass slide will come in that generic looking slide that resembles slides that you can find in most playgrounds. They are fixed into place usually at one end of the pool and there they will stay for maybe as long as its durability can take it (which could be a lifetime).
Inflatable pool slides, on the other hand, are not fixtures and can be installed anywhere it is suitable inside the pool. Some are tied to an edge while others are anchored on some part of the pool. It all depends on the design of the inflatable slide but one thing is for sure, with inflatables, you can mix it up a bit thereby decreasing the chances of users getting bored with it.
Inflatable slides are also relatively safer because materials used to make it are usually vinyl or PVC which are cheap yet durable. And since they are inflated by air, the slides themselves offer some protection against bruises and bumps that you may get from sliding down fiberglass type slides. Besides being safer, bouncing around and tumbling down an inflatable pool slide is much more fun than sliding down its fiberglass counterparts.
The inflatable types of slides come in many, many different designs these days. They make them small and they make them humongous! Some even come in complex designs as to be considered pool activity centers!
In choosing between the different designs, you will need to take note of the size of the pool you are going to use it on and the weights and maximum number of people it can carry. You will also need to distinguish between the finely made ones and the cheaply made ones. When it comes to inflatable pool toys, it actually matters to try and buy those that are priced higher yet are made with better quality material and craftsmanship, as they tend to last longer than the cheaper ones.
Of course, one disadvantage of inflatable pool slides is that it can spring a leak anytime for no apparent reason. This is one reality you need to prepare for if you go for these types of slides. For safe-keeping, inflatable types are easily stored when deflated which is one of its positive traits! Most slides fit in a pouch or bag when deflated!
